Since 2015, the Department of Life Sciences (DSV) has established the Third Mission Committee (CTM) to coordinate, monitor, and inventory Third Mission activities. The CTM evaluates the impact of these activities at regional, national, and international levels and makes proposals in agreement with the Board and/or the Department Council.

The current CTM, established by the Director of the Department as per Article 11 of the Department Regulations, was approved by the Department Council on 31/03/2022 and is composed as follows:

Specifically, the CTM:

  • Proposes calls, opportunities, and strategies to enable researchers to engage in cultural initiatives necessary for interaction with local stakeholders.
  • Encourages technology transfer and industrial research.
  • Provides proposals and opinions on regulations and provisions related to the Third Mission of the DSV, including the AQ Management process in collaboration with the Quality Commission (CQ).
  • Contributes to the drafting and review of the Department's biennial plan in collaboration with CQ and the executive committee.
  • Interacts with the heads of the science and technology parks affiliated with the DSV.
  • Supports CQ in monitoring Third Mission and PE activities and their inclusion in IRIS.
  • Assists CQ with VQR campaigns as per the directives of the OOAA.
  • Collaborates with the Research Committee for synergistic actions.
  • Drafts the minutes of meetings (to be published in the DSV restricted area accessible via university credentials).

The Coordinator of the Committee, or a delegate, periodically reports to the Council on the Committee’s activities.

The Coordinator also acts as the DSV contact for the Third Mission, serving as a single point of contact between the University/OOAA and the Department.
